Our Living Waters is a collaborative network of organizations working together to achieve the ambitious goal of all waters in good health by 2030. The network drives collaboration, unites voices, and provides a common basis to reach its goal of water health through a shared measurement system.

Our Living Water’s shared measurement system helps determine progress towards the network's common goal (all waters in Canada in good health by 2030). Canada's waters are in good health when:

  1. They are safe for swimming and drinking and safe from contaminants,

  2. Fish are flourishing and are healthy to eat,

  3. The flow of water in rivers and lakes supports life, recreation and a healthy environment.

  4. Aquatic bugs that form the base of the food chain are thriving in waterways.

Swim Drink Fish shares the goal of healthy waters and is an active member of the Our Living Waters network. Through the network, we are focused on reducing combined sewer overflows (CSOs) that cause wastewater pollution in Canada's waterways. Wastewater pollution harms our connection to the water that we swim in and paddle on. By eliminating CSOs, we help restore our connection to water and, at the same time, restore the environmental and recreational health of Canada's water.

With financial support from the Our Living Waters 2030 Fund, a project of Tides Canada’s shared platform, Swim Drink Fish has produced several reports on combined sewage in Canada, secured open access to federal wastewater data, and created resources to help you advocate for an end to sewage pollution in your community.
