When I first started working at Swim Drink Fish, my role was as the Toronto Hub Assistant, where I spent most of my time conducting our water monitoring and hosting community engagement events. The events were one of my favourite parts of my job because I met so many different people, and could engage in meaningful conversation about water literacy and educate people about their local waters. I often left feeling fulfilled and inspired by these people in the community who cared about water just as much as I do. Although this is no longer a large part of my role, this week I was able to step in and help host a workshop and lead these conversations again. It was wonderful being able to step away from my computer and talk with people again about our work, and it left me with that same feeling that community matters so much when it comes to advocating for the health of the water.
