We finally have the VAST Monitoring Tool set up and out to volunteers for our Algae Monitoring Pilot in Niagara! For context, this is a community science tool made to mobilize VAST observations at our priority and control sites for this project. The regular Cladophora Reporting Survey is still up and present for anyone to use! If you happen to be at the beach this weekend, why not give it a try?

Our training session for using the new survey went well! Plenty of algae to train with at Reeb’s Bay Public Beach. Is this too much algae for you? Would you still go for a swim? There were a handful of people enjoying the water just fine when we were there.
