Our Vision

Swimmable, drinkable, fishable water for everyone

As a volunteer-led group, the Swim Drink Fish vision of creating swimmable, drinkable, fishable water for everyone started with people. It’s this vision that has connected people to the water’s edge and given communities access to their local waters. Our vision has come to fruition, and continues to grow, thanks to the power of community-based action.

We use the tools of a diverse group of passionate water lovers with the same goal in mind: swimmable, drinkable, fishable water for everyone. Our vision has never wavered, and that’s why the past is powering our present and the future, as we continue to look forward with people powering us there.

Our Mission

Connecting people with water

Connection leads to protection. It reads simple, but if you go beneath the surface of that sentence, we find a solution to issues and problems we’ve known about for over a century. The simple act of connecting people to water is the greatest action we can take; it is the catalyst in empowering a community to protect its water.

Our vision of creating access to swimmable, drinkable, fishable water for everyone begins and ends with connection. It’s the action of protection that becomes the journey.

It is our programs that will take you on that journey of protecting what you love. We work at the confluence of people, water, and storytelling. Our programs connect people to the water’s edge, and with technology, we use communications tools to help tell the stories to empower a movement of people working to protect and create access to swimmable, drinkable, fishable water for everyone.

Our values

Swim Drink Fish values community, leadership, credibility, fairness, and optimism. These are the forces behind our work for swimmable, drinkable, fishable water.
