Earlier this year, Swim Drink Fish took over the Blue Flag certification program in Canada. We’re in the middle of 2020’s swimming season, but we’ve already started planning for the Blue Flag program in 2021.

On June 9, we announced 29 beaches and nine marinas earned the prestigious Blue Flag certification in Canada. Each Blue Flag brings us one step closer to swimmable, drinkable, fishable water.  That’s why we’re excited to grow Blue Flag Canada and welcome new destinations to the program.

Every beach or marina near you is an opportunity to bring Blue Flag to your community.

Since Blue Flag Canada became Swim Drink Fish’s newest initiative, we’ve spoken with beach and marina operators across the country. Many of these conversations revolve around promoting local tourism, public health, and environmental awareness.

As the world’s best-known award for clean, beautiful beaches, Blue Flag certification helps your community achieve its economic development, public health, and environmental awareness goals. Blue Flag communities work hard to be among Canada’s top waterfront destinations.

Want to recommend your local beach or marina for the Blue Flag program? Contact us and let us know.

Are you a beach or marina operator?

At Swim Drink Fish, we know the pandemic has created a lot of unique challenges at beaches and marinas this year. Our Blue Flag Canada team is here to guide you through the application process and help every step of the way. We’ve also put together the slide deck, linked here, for more information about how Blue Flag can help your community in the coming year.

There is one step all Blue Flag beach applicants will need to take this August to be considered for Blue Flag status next year.

Our Blue Flag Canada team would love to set up a call with you to discuss the Blue Flag application process further. Please feel free to contact us, or email shane@swimdrinkfish.ca, and we’ll schedule a call.
